PORT ST. JOE, FL (WJHG/WECP) - Thursday was another memorable day in a year full of them for the members of the Port St. Joe baseball team.
Players and coaches gathered in the school library to receive their championship rings commemorating the run to the 1A title.
Head Coach Ashley Summerlin had the honor of handing those rings out, one by one, player to player, and even to his assistants and others who support the program.
"There are a lot of baseball teams in the state of Florida, but just one team in each class gets to say they won that last game of the year," Summerlin said. "It's great to see all that the hard work that they put in during the year paid off for them. I'm glad that they are able to enjoy something like this. As a coach, you want your kids to have a goal, and for them to be able to reach that goal is very satisfying."
Centennial Bank in Port St. Joe sponsored the purchase of the rings.
