LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Saturday's finals at the Panhandle Championships featured local flair from top to bottom.
Of the 13 teams competing for two days at Mosley, nearby schools featured prominently, with Arnold, Bay, Bozeman, Marianna, Mosley, North Bay Haven, Rutherford, and Wewahitchka all appearing in finals bouts.
Arnold finished highest among that group, going 4-1 in finals and earning second place overall as a team. Tanner Brockman (106), Nick Hejke (120), Griffin Hebert (138) and Casey Peppers (220) earned class crowns, with Hejke and Hebert reaching 100 career wins in the process.
Wewahitchka's Jonathan Harvey beat Brian Zerr Jr. of Bozeman by decision at 126.
Garrison Kovacs won his class in his home gym, defeating Marianna's John Maddox by decision at 170.
The Bulldogs bounced back in the next bout, with Corey Davis pinning North Bay Haven's Ethan Cole in 60 seconds.
Elton Rumph represented Rutherford in the finals at 220 and while Bay's Jonathan Heller made it to the finals at 285. Both earned runner up finishes.
Pace won the event as a team.
