Wewa softball team members get their Championship rings!

WEWAHITCHKA, FL (WJHG/WECP) Safe to say it was a big day for some student athletes at Wewahitchka High School Friday.

The members of the Gator softball team picked up some jewelry that will be significant to them for the rest of their lives!

As you may recall last may, the Gators finished off a terrific season in May with the program's third state championship, winning the 1A title down in vero beach.

The folks at the school Friday holding a ceremony to honor that team, and hand out the state championship rings!

Coach Tony Price and his Gators with a 26-4 record on the way to that championship, the third in program history, the first two in 2007 and 2008.

So now these young ladies will have something to wear or carry around with them the rest of their lives that reminds them of the this past season, the accomplishment, the teamwork, the sacrifices involved.

Congratulations to the Gator softball team once again.
