Lynn Haven -- Zumba lovers from across Bay County came together Saturday morning to help support the local Autism Center, and the Center for Autism and Related Disorder (CARD) program.
This Zumba-thon, hosted by the Wellness and Fitness Center, brought more than 150 people and five instructors together to Zumba for about two hours.
A portion of the entry fees and the silent auction are being donated to the Autism center of Lynn Haven and the CARD program.
The CARD program provides support for families dealing with a child who has autism. Says Aimee Capps, the event coordinator, "we are very excited to put together this Zumba event. It is a great way to get in shape and have fun, and each class is a party
But the event wasn’t only a good time. Helen Ezell, who owns the Autism Center points out that, "The money from this event goes to our angel sponsorship program. It’s directly helping children get services.”
Each person paid $5 to take part in the Zumba event. That money will be divided between the two organizations.
