Firefighters are battling a wildfire in South Walton County with units responding from Fort Walton Beach to Panama City.
The fire started Friday afternoon in the Point Washington area, north of Highway 98, near Highway 283.
It was threatening homes and there have been evacuations.
Fifty people evacuated but luckily, only two homes sustained minimal damage.
Firefighters contained the fire around 5:00pm but there are still active hot spots in the area.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
According to the South Walton Fire District, wildfires are more prevalent this time of year. Prescribed burns were issued in the area earlier this week, but it was determined it did not play a part in Friday's fire.
