SANTA ROSA BEACH-- Some of Country music's biggest stars were in the Panhandle this weekend. It was a time for fun, music and for one artist and her 'team members,' it was a time to give back.
Martina McBride's handful of 'Team Martina' volunteers gathered at 'Food for Thought Outreach' Sunday in Santa Rosa Beach. Their mission was to fill back-packs up with food that will be delivered to hungry kids in the area.
The 'Team Martina' volunteer movement started four years ago, all thanks to one song.
"The movement actually started with just a group of country music fans who were responding to her song 'I'm gonna love you through it" and Martina loved what was happening and embraced it. Now it's become this worldwide movement, there are even volunteers in Germany and Brazil," 'Team Martina' Member, MaryAnn Makekau said.
The volunteers step up every time Martina is in town to perform. They say she is aware of and fully supports their efforts!
Martina's team donated enough food to fill over 100 back-packs on Sunday.
