Scooter driver killed during head-on collision with van

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: 7:15 a.m.

A Panama City Beach woman is dead after a crash involving a scooter and a van early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to the incident on Middle Beach Rd. near Camelia St. around 1:15 a.m.

Police say Christina McCollough, 22, was driving east on Middle Beach Rd. on a family-owned scooter, when she crossed into the westbound lanes into the path of the van.

Authorities say McCollough died instantly. The driver of the van was not hurt.

The crash is still under investigation.

Panama City Beach Police say a person on a scooter was driving on Middle Beach Rd. when it collided with a van head-on.

Authorities say the driver of the scooter was killed instantly. The driver of the van walked away with no injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
