Girls Volleyball Teams Assemble for annual Panhandle Classic

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Sixteen teams from the region met at Mosley, Mowat, and Bay Haven on Saturday in the annual Panhandle Classic.

Schools from Florida, Alabama, and Georgia combined for the largest field ever at the event.

Mosley head coach Michelle Mask ran the event and says all participants benefit from the tournament.

"They're really great competition, but most of the teams we look to have in here at Mosley for this tournament are teams from Birmingham, Pensacola, Georgia," Mask said. "And anyway, playing better competition gets you ready for the playoffs. I've had some of the same teams coming back for the last four years that I've been here. Made a lot of good friends."

In the championship bracket held at Redfern Gym, Choctaw claimed first place over Bob Jones, Pensacola Catholic, and Mosley.
