JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Jackson County Sheriff's Office officials advise people of a phone scam in which the caller pretends to be a member of the JCSO.

Officials say the caller has been calling people and telling them the sheriff's office will be coming to their home to arrest them. The caller says deputies will arrest them if they do "not purchase a pre-paid card and provide them with the information in order for the caller to access the monetary funds."

According to the JCSO, Sheriff Lou Roberts says the Sheriff's Office will never contact anyone by phone and demand money in exchange for not being arrested.

Officials advise anyone who gets a call like this to not give away any personal information and to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 850 482-9648.
