OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Crestview Bypass is one step closer to reality.
A $64.1 million grant from Triumph Gulf Coast has been signed to help with construction of the Crestview Bypass, which is set to be completed in 2024. (WJHG/WECP)
The Okaloosa County commissioners- along with former Senate President and Triumph Gulf Coast chairman Don Gaetz and Crestview city leaders signed a $64.1 million grant on Tuesday.
This comes after the groundbreaking took place in September.
The grant will help the city and county pay for the bypass.
The Okaloosa County commissioners say this will help relieve traffic on the southwest portion of the Crestview Bypass... And improve people's quality of life.
“What's happened is we've had explosive growth in Okaloosa County, which is a good thing, more people want to live here, it helps our economy and people get to live in a great place, but it also means we have more people on the road,” said Christopher Saul, Public Information Officer for the Okaloosa County Commissioners.
The estimated completion date for the Crestview Bypass is in 2024.
