Michael Hutchison spent three years in the U.S. Army. He spent Wednesday honoring the first responders and civilians who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on 9/11 in special way: by walking from his business in Upper Grand lagoon to Pier Park carrying an American flag, the total trip is about 12 miles.
"I try to do a memorial ruck march every year in order to help people remember why we have the freedoms that we have, why we are able to live the great life that we have in America," Hutchison said. "It was the largest tragedy that we ever had on American soil and we never want to forget."
Hutchison says he does this walk almost every memorial-style holiday.
