Advisories for Watson Bayou and Lake Caroline lifted

Portions of Lake Caroline and Watson Bayou are under advisories after raw sewage spills.

City officials reported that 125 gallons of raw sewage spilled into Lake Caroline after a manhole line break at 12th Street and Christal Avenue in Panama City.

City officials also reported that 105 gallons of raw sewage entered Watson Bayou after a lift station malfunction at 803 E. 14th Street in Panama City.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County, DOH-Bay, advises against swimming in Watson Bayou from the Business 98 North to 8th Street and in Lake Caroline from the 11th Street to 12th Street until further notice.

Clean ups of both spills are finished and waters are being tested to tell if they are safe, once tests come back clean the advisories will be lifted.
