WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Country musicians and animal lovers will throw down for a good cause this weekend!
Barn Jam will raise money for new Alaqua Animal Refuge facility. (WJHG/WECP)
Alaqua Animal Refuge is holding it's inaugural Barn Jam Saturday.
All money raised will be matched and used to help build Alaqua's new location.
Earlier this year, Alaqua rescued hundreds of dogs from a hoarding case in Holmes County, but their current location is only 10 acres.
The founder of Alaqua, Laurie Hood, says their new location will be 100 acres and will allow them to help more animals.
"Alaqua is such a unique organization, we're a no-kill facility, but we also take in all kinds of animals in need and we are the go-to organization for any kind of large-scale cruelty case or neglect case and, you know, I shudder to think of what would happen to those animals if we weren't here," said Hood.
Barn Jam will be held at the new Alaqua location, about 5 miles east of the intersection of Highway 20 and 331 in Freeport.
It starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Doors open at 3 p.m.
