PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Following the heatwave that affected the area through Wednesday, ZooWorld officials want to ease any potential fears about the safety of its animals.

Many of the animals are accustomed to the heat, and the zoo has a number of practices in place to keep the critters under its care comfortable. Many of the enclosures have fans, and the zoo freezes lengths of PVC pipe in order to give many of the animals something cool to lean up against.

"This is actually a climate they are very very used to," said ZooWorld Curator Erika Newell. "It makes it a great place to raise animals and house animals."
