Bay County Chamber of Commerce honors community leaders

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - It was a night for the Bay County Chamber of Commerce to show local community leaders and organizations just how much they are appreciated for their contributions to the local economy and their service to the community during 2019.

Chamber officials said Friday's award recipients worked hard to help locals recover from Hurricane Michael.

“Receiving this award means a lot to me. I believe any time you can you an impact the life of anyone else it's just beyond words,” said award recipient Al McCambry.

President of The Bay County Chamber of Commerce Carol Roberts said it's important to recognize community leaders because it's a way to thank them for their efforts and inspire more to follow in their footsteps.

"Who would have ever thought that our community would be cleaned up to the point that it is,” said Roberts. “We'd see all the construction going on, housing coming online. It's an exciting time and we're gonna have a fresh new start for Bay County."

President Of Gulf Coast State College Dr. John Holdnak took the Member Of The Year Award. Olivia Byrd Cooley and Col. Brian Laidlaw, 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall Air Force Base each received Chairman's Awards and Al Mccambry with Gulf Coast State College received The Lauren Merriam Memorial Award.
