We reached out to the mayor and an official with the Bay County Sheriff's Office. Both say the transition was smooth and things are going well.

There are about five deputies assigned to the area, several of which used to be on the Mexico Beach Police force.

While officials with the Sheriff's Office says it will not build a substation, new office space will be given to the deputies patrolling the area inside the Mexico Beach City Hall.
