BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Bay County jury found a man guilty of sexual battery on a physically helpless person.

The victim had been out drinking with friends and planned on staying the night with one of them. Jermaine Croft, the victim, and one of her friends went to the friend's home where she took care of the victim, since she was drunk.

Croft left the home and went to a bar but later came back. When he got back, he raped the victim who was asleep. The victim woke up during the attack and tried to fight Croft off but was choked, bitten, and slammed into the bed numerous times.

Evidence showed Croft had raped the victim. On Thursday, the jury came back with a conviction in less than 40 minutes.

Croft is a six-time convicted felon and faces 60 years in prison. His sentencing is set for October 14th.
