Bay District Schools announces delays in installing modulars, transition date pushed back

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Bay District Schools announced on Facebook Tuesday afternoon a transition delay for Bay High School and Merritt Brown Middle School.

Citing recent heavy rain and construction delays, school officials said the transition date for these schools has been moved from January 14th to January 22nd.

The delays have slowed down the installation of some modular classrooms needed to reopen the schools.

Part of the Facebook post reads, "While we know our students, parents and faculty members are looking forward to returning to their campuses we believe this date shift gives us the time we need to ensure the facilities are safe and ready for students."

Officials said previously announced adjustments will also now take place on January 22nd, not the 14th.

The post also says, "Placing these portables has been a monumental task and we certainly apologize for unavoidable delays."
