Bay District Schools leaders are working to offer teachers a stipend to help with distance learning.
Superintendent Bill Husfelt believes it isn’t fair for teachers to have to add this onto their internet plan since the state shut down the brick and mortar schools.
So for the next two months, the school board plans on giving each teacher that is tied to instruction, student assistance, guidance and media specialist a $100 stipend.
"They might be a single person that just has it on their phone and doesn't need that kind of connection, or they might have a data plan that doesn't include going up to what they're getting ready to have to go up to. So we did not think it was fair to ask the teachers to have to do that without paying for that,” said Husfelt.
Husfelt says he believe FEMA will reimburse the school district for the stipend.
