The Coast Guard announced it ended its search for a person missing in the water near Destin Tuesday.

This comes after Coast Guard officials said the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office requested help Sunday afternoon. Officials learned a man entered the water after he and another man were reportedly ejected from a 20-foot center console vessel.

A press release said the vessel reportedly had a malfunction and ran circles, striking the missing person.

Officials said the Coast Guard used eight assets while working with local agencies. They reportedly searched 569 squares miles over the course of 41 hours.

They said multiple agencies responded, including the Coast Guard, Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Florida Wildlife and Fisheries, and Eglin Air Force Base Special Ops Dive Team

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
