Boil Water Notice in Callaway Lifted

There's a boil water notice in effect for all of Callaway. (MGN)

CALLAWAY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATED 02-07-2020:
The boil water notice has been lifted.

If you live in the city of Callaway, make sure you're boiling your water.

City officials say an 18-inch water main that feeds the whole city was accidentally broken by subcontractors working to clean Hurricane Michael debris.

The damaged water main directs water from Tyndall Parkway at 7th Street to the water storage tank at 8705 E. Highway 22.

Officials say that as a precaution all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice cubes, brushing teeth and washing dishes should be boiled, or bottled water should be used.

They say one minute of boiling should be sufficient.

The boil water notice will remain in effect until bacteria levels are tested safe.
