PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) The goal of our tourism industry is to attract more people and money to our communities all year.

Around 45 events are already booked at the sports complex for 2020. (WJHG/WECP)

"Soccer is big in the fall, and so is football," said Chris O'Brien, with the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The Panama City Beach Sports Complex opened up the playing grounds just last summer, hosting around 1,200 teams.

Within the first six months of opening, tourism officials say they've already seen an economic boom.

"So they're bringing their families and the events are multiple days so it has a big effect for hotels, and you know they love staying in our area and enjoying our restaurants," said O'Brien.

45 events are booked for this year and officials estimate that will bring in around 45,000 players alone.

"It's gonna bring a lot of new visitors to town," said O'Brien.

The sports complex will host a variety of teams from football and soccer, to lacrosse and kickball, just to name a few.

Officials tell us everything in the park is complete besides some extra landscaping.
