DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - CHELCO is taking precautions for its employees and its customers during the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.
CHELCO representatives say the company has suspended disconnections and will work with customers who are struggling financially due to the economic impacts caused by COVID-19. Representatives say customers will be responsible for their account balance when disconnections resume.
Some CHELCO employees are working from home to limit face-to-face interaction and protect from the threat of exposure to the virus. Those who are still working are practicing social distancing, working with staggered line crew schedules and refraining from in-person interactions.
CHELCO serves more than 53,000 customers in Okaloosa, Walton, Santa Rosa, and Holmes Counties.
