Caryville man arrested on child endangerment charges following traffic stop

CARYVILLE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Caryville man is behind bars after he allegedly led deputies on a short chase with a toddler in his vehicle.

Washington County Sheriff's officials say a deputy tried to pull Kriss Murray, 28, over on Lakeview Road, but Murray sped off and stopped at a house on Crain Court.

They say when the deputy got close to Murray's truck, he smelled marijuana. According to officials, the deputy found marijuana near the child's car seat in the back of the truck.

Sheriff's officials say Murray admitted that he and his passenger had been smoking the marijuana right before they were stopped. They also say the child was not secured in the car seat.

Murray is facing charges of cruelty to a child that could result in injury, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, and driving while license suspended or revoked.
