OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Some changes are coming to Crab Island in Okaloosa County.
Floating structures on Crab Island will be limited to just 12 by summer 2021, according to the Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners. (WJHG/WECP)
Starting in 2021, only 12 floating structures will be allowed on Crab Island... And only three of them can be vessels. The Okaloosa County Commissioners say the rest will have to be small vendors.
This comes after an ordinance banning floating structures from staying on Crab Island overnight went into effect in November.
"The reason behind all the changes is that we want to make sure that Crab Island is a safe and family-friendly place for people to come and visit,” said Christopher Saul, Public Information Officer for the Okaloosa County Commission.
The board of commissioners says this ordinance was made with the best interests of all the people in Okaloosa County.
