JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - In light of recent church shootings, the Chipola Baptist Association is hosting a safety seminar.
The event will be held at Rivertown Community Church in Marianna on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Doors open at 7:00 a.m.
Pastors, staff, deacons, elders, and safety teams are all invited.
The event will focus on how to identify warning signs and steps to better protect your church, with guest speaker Jim Howard.
"We're asking people that are interested in any of this training that they do come for this because it's important," Jackson County Emergency Management Director Rodney Andreasen. "Small churches, they're what we call the soft targets and that's what we're concerned with. We want to protect."
Lunch will be included.
RSVP is required. The cost to attend is $15 per person or $45 per church.
You can RSVP at TrinitySecurityAllies.com.
