Drug trafficking ring busted in Walton County

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A major drug trafficking ring was taken down earlier this week in Walton County.

The operation, which was supplying meth and heroin to Walton, Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties, was busted by VICE and Narcotics Investigators.

The officers arrested two of the drug dealers at Pelican Beach Resort in Destin after following a search warrant to the Sea Cabins at Miramar Beach.

The task force and narcotics officers found more than 2,165 grams of heroin and approximately 341 grams of meth. The street value of the drugs exceeded $270,000 and $14,600 respectively. The officers also recovered four weapons and more than $55,000 in cash.

Daniel Taylor, 38, of Fort Walton Beach, and Purnell Jones, 43, of Birmingham, Ala., are charged with trafficking heroin and meth. The two also face weapons charges and resisting arrest.

Two other people were also arrested in connection with this case earlier in the investigation.
