EHEAP Program to keep the elderly warm

HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - As the temperatures dip down, many are left wondering how they'll stay warm.

Councils on Aging across the state have a program to help seniors with their utility bills.

The Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program, or EHEAP, is able to provide emergency home energy assistance for elders.

Households with persons 60 years of age or older with low incomes who are in immediate danger of losing their source of home heating or cooling may be considered for eligibility.

"If you need any help with a power bill that's late that you're scared of because they haven't been sending them or if your propane tank is empty or if your heater is broken, do not be cold," Holmes County Council on Aging Executive Director Michael Brown said. "Don't try to fight through that. Please come in and talk to us. I promise you, we can help you."

Eligibility is household income based.
