Emeritus Alumni Luncheon held at FSU Panama City

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Alumni who graduated from Florida State University at least 50 years ago gathered at FSU Panama City for the annual Emeritus Alumni Luncheon.

More than 40 alumni attended and FSU Panama City officials awarded two people honorary alumni status as thanks for giving the largest gift in campus history.

Bob and Judy Fleming gifted $3 million to the college so they can provide financial aid to up to 80 students, many of those are first-generation college students.

"I went there [and there] were hardly any scholarships and your family had to be able to afford to send you. Now there are so many [people] that could not have gone and gotten an education, more and more because people are so generous to give back to Florida State," said JoAnn Gramling, who graduated from FSU in 1960.

Neither Bob nor Judy Fleming graduated from Florida State, but they wanted to give back to the community.
