FHP: Fuel leakage on roadway causes crash, road closed for several hours

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - According to Florida Highway Patrol, a fuel leakage on Titus Road caused a vehicle crash and road closure for several hours Sunday morning.

Officials said a Dodge RAM was headed west on Titus Road approaching County Road 2321. The driver reportedly lost control of the truck on the slick road and crashed into a stop sign.

According to FHP, officials identified a 2016 Freightliner semi-truck with a tanker trailer that had a leaky gas tank on the semi-truck itself.

The gas tank on the semi-truck was reportedly struck by debris, which caused the semi-truck's diesel tank to leak fuel on Titus Road.

Officials said this created slick conditions which caused the Dodge RAM to crash. The road was blocked for several hours for cleanup.
