PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - If you've ever thought about becoming a state trooper, this might be your chance. Florida Highway Patrol officials say they're looking to put some more men and women into uniform.
"We're down about 27 positions total" said FHP Lieutenant Eddie Elmore.
To fill the gaps in their ranks, FHP is holding an Open House Recruitment Fair this Friday, October 21st from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
"To kind of help individuals come talk to us if they have questions about recruitment," explained Lt. Elmore. "If they have questions about the job of a Florida Highway Patrol trooper we'll be glad to walk them through the steps of the hiring process and what it takes to get you to the academy."
In order to become a trooper, you must first meet their eligibility requirements.
"To be eligible you need to be at least 19 years of age, [have] two years of work experience and of course our military veterans and college graduates are preference," said Lt. Elmore.
The recruitment fair will be held at the FHP station at 6030 County Road 2321 Panama City, Fl.
