Firefighters put out house fire after reports from fishermen

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Firefighters put out a fire at a home on Juniper Lake in DeFuniak Springs after two fishermen reported seeing smoke coming from a nearby home.

Wednesday morning, firefighters from Argyle Volunteer Fire Department, Walton County Fire Rescue, DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, and Walton County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 911 call from a man fishing on the lake who said he saw smoke.

When firefighters got to the home on Vanderheide Road, they found heavy smoke coming from the back of the home.

Firefighters say they battled the flames for a little more than an hour before it was put out. They say no one was home at the time.
