Florida Department of Health releases new update

Latest COVID-19 update from the Florida Department of Health. (MGN)

FLORIDA, (WJHG/WECP) - The Florida Department of Health says as of Wednesday morning, there are 295 new cases of COVID-19 in Florida. This brings the total number of cases to 1,977.

The FDOH says 1,867 of the confirmed cases are in Florida residents and 110 of the confirmed cases are in non-Florida residents.

There are now 13 cases in Walton County,18 in Okaloosa County, and three in Bay County.

In Bay County, one case is in Youngstown and one is in Lynn Haven. Bay County Health officials say the case of the 74-year-old woman is not travel related and the case of the 55-year-old man is travel related including other areas in Florida and Puerto Rico.

There is one new death as of Wednesday evening bringing the total number of deaths in Florida to 23. The death was in Citrus County.

Bay County Health Officials says as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, there are currently 54 people under investigation in Bay County, including 52 locals and two non-residents. They also say 51 tests have come back negative, three tests are pending, and three tests have come back positive.
