Florida Highway Patrol investigating unattended death

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an unattended death after a welfare check at an Interstate 10 rest area Saturday morning.

Troopers said they responded to the I-10 westbound rest area at the 30-mile marker.

They said they saw a tractor-trailer which matched the description of the vehicle.

Troopers were unable to make contact with the driver.

When they gained access to the tractor's cab, troopers said they found a white male unresponsive.

Officials said EMS, East Milton Fire/Rescue, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service responded.

He was pronounced dead that same morning. The investigation is ongoing.
