PENSACOLA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A man accused of stealing money from his employer for years pleaded guilty Friday.
Michael Greutman, 59, of Fort Walton Beach, pleaded guilty to 13 counts of wire fraud and four counts of tax evasion.
Between 2009 and 2016, Greutman embezzled more than $825,000 from his employer, a family-owned business in Shalimar. Greutman was the Chief Financial Officer for the business. He made unauthorized payments to his credit cards with his employer's money, used corporate credit cards for unauthorized personal purchases, and transferring company money to his personal bank accounts.
As CFO of the business, he created false documentation and manipulate accounting records to cover up his scheme.
Greutman also didn't report the money on his income tax returns.
He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for wire fraud and three years in prison for filing a false tax return. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 12.
