FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Franklin County man is facing charges after deputies say he lunged at the sheriff with a knife in his hand.

Deputies and Sheriff A.J. Smith responded to complaints about drug activity and stolen property Tuesday. They say when they got to the property, they noticed an open door to a shed.

Sheriff Smith says when he looked into the shed, he saw Jeremy Mixon lighting up a pipe with meth in it. Mixon was placed under arrest, but refused. They say he lunged at Sheriff Smith with a 6 inch knife. Another deputy arrived at the scene and used his Tazer on Mixon.

Deputies say Mixon has a criminal record dating back to 2000, more than 25 separate arrests, with charges including multiple burglaries, arson, bodily harm, assault or battery, sexual batter on a child under 12, and more violent and drug related crimes.

Mixon was charged with resisting an officer without violence, possession of methamphetamine, narcotics equipment possession, and aggravated assault on an officer.
