Good Friday morning everyone!
Meteorologist Ryan Michaels says our heat index rises to the upper 90s today.
It's a quiet start on radar despite a few clouds cruising by. We'll once again see plenty of sunshine on the morning commute so grab the shades before heading out.
Temperatures are pleasantly warm for a lot of folks getting going away from the coast. We're waking up in the low 70s and upper 60s inland to mid to upper 70s inland. It'll be another toasty day ahead so be sure to dress comfy out the door. Highs today reach the low 90s on the coast to mid 90s inland. But we'll still have a little bit of that northeast flow from yesterday helping to keep the humidity slightly down. Feels like temperatures today will likely only reach the upper 90s in most spots.
Other than a few more clouds in our skies at times today, we're looking at another beautiful day. It looks as though our weekend will actually shape up thanks to the tropical disturbance in the Bahamas steering away from NWFL. Skies are looking mostly to partly sunny with only a stray, spotty, afternoon storm possible with rain chances running around 20-30%.
Let's talk about it in your Tropical Update...
The Potential Tropical System #9 in the Bahamas is expected to make a pass at the Northern Bahamas and the Florida East Coast over the next couple days. It's expected to strengthen to a tropical storm by early Saturday morning somewhere over the Northern Bahamas where heavy rains will unfortunately impact areas hit hard by Dorian. Effects from this system should be far enough away from us to limit rain chances to a spotty shot at an afternoon shower here in NWFL. So weekend plans should be good to go!
For today, mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 90s on the coast to mid 90s inland. Your 7 Day Forecast shapes up to be a pretty nice weekend ahead with low end rain chances here in NWFL as we watch a tropical disturbance move up the Florida East Coast.
