Governor extends state of emergency in Panhandle Counties impacted by hurricane

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Governor Rick Scott has extended the state of emergency in Panhandle counties another 60 days.

This affects Bay, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, Jackson, Calhoun, Gulf, Franklin, Liberty, Gadsden, Leon, Wakulla, and Jefferson counties.

A copy of the executive order is attached to this article.

Sheriff Tommy Ford, said when asked about the order's impact in Bay County, "When you're an unlicensed contractor during a state of emergency, it's a felony as opposed to a misdemeanor so that gives us a little bit more teeth to go after those situations."
