FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Franklin County Grand Jury found Deputy Jacob Rieben was lawful in the use of deadly force in February 2019.

On February 1, 2019, Deputy Rieben attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Sherrie Jones. Jones failed to pull over until she reached her residence and refused to speak with deputies and remained locked in her car after several attempts by deputies to make contact with her.

Deputy Rieben then attempted to break Jone's car window in order to make contact with her, at that time Jones pulled the vehicle away from the deputies, turned around, and started to accelerate toward them.

Deputy Rieben discharged his weapon toward the car.

Jones was injured and was treated at the Bay Medical Sacred Heart and released.

The Grand Jury found that Deputy Rieben was lawful in discharging his firearm because he believed his life and the life of his fellow deputy to be in danger.
