PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Help is wanted in Panama City Beach.
The Grand Lagoon Coalition hosted a job fair at the Palms Conference Center on Front Beach Road Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
A dozen employers looked for potential candidates, especially as we're in the peak of spring break with summer right around the corner.
Employers at the event said hiring has been difficult since Hurricane Michael, with a low turnout at the fair Tuesday.
Trudy White, the treasurer of the Grand Lagoon Coalition, believes part of the problem could be housing.
"There's some businesses out there that are shortening their hours because they don't have enough employees to run their normal hours and we're in the heat of spring break right now and we should be, everybody should be, full-blown and busy all the time and it's a shame that they don't have enough employees," White said.
She said now it's time to think outside the box. White said the coalition may turn to posting more job information on its website.
