JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A church in Greenwood took the time Sunday to honor someone very dear to their hearts.
The program involved hearing from members of the church about what the holiday and the man it's named after means to them. (WJHG/WECP)
New Hope Missionary Baptist Church held a special program ahead of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The program involved praising the Lord and hearing from members of the church about what the holiday, and the man it's named after, means to them.
"When we commemorate Dr. King's spirit, his life, his legacy, and his love, we should all do it like we've come to do it today. We have come to give praises to God for his life, we've come to honor his life," said church member Sister Acenia Dickens.
The theme for the program was, "From the ground up: inequity, bias, privilege, structure, death."
