PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - At the Bay County Economic Development meeting Gulf Coast Medical Regional Medical Center announced the opening of a new medical facility on Highway 231.
Conceptual rendering of GCRMC Free Standing Emergency Department
The 12,000 square foot freestanding emergency department will be located near the intersection of Transmitter Road and will be open 24/7. It is expected to serve more than 10,000 patients a year.
Approximately 30 ER physicians and healthcare professionals will staff the $11.5 million facility.
Construction is slated to start in August of this year and take approximately 12 months to complete.
"It will have about 10 to 21 beds in it. It will have CT, X-ray, ultrasound, lab," GCRMC CEO Brad Griffin said. "Again, staffed with emergency room trained physicians 24/7. So it will be able to handle emergency conditions for patients of all ages."
They say the new spot will give the surrounding community members better and faster access to emergency medical care without having to travel long so far.
