BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A human case of West Nile virus has been confirmed in Bay County.
It's the first human case of the virus in Bay County in 2019.
The Florida Department of Health is reinforcing its mosquito-borne illness advisory. They say people with West Nile usually won't feel sick, but if they do some of the symptoms include fever, headache, pain, and fatigue.
Symptoms typically appear between two and 14 days after the bite of an infected mosquito.
People over the age of 60 and individuals with weakened immune systems are at an increased risk for severe disease.
