JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - On July 5, at approximately 11:37 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says they received an anonymous tip.

They say the person stated wanted fugitive, Maurice Bennett Jr., was allegedly located on Lynch Drive in Marianna, Florida. Bennett Jr. had four outstanding felony warrants.

Officials say when officers responded, Bennett Jr. fled on foot. A perimeter was set up behind the residence of Buddy Wyatt, who told deputies he saw Bennett Jr. running away from the scene.

They say K9 Tracking teams apprehended Bennett Jr. a short distance from the residence.

According to the press release, "During the investigation, Buddy Wyatt lied about knowing Bennett Jr. was seeking refuge inside the residence he was in and gave false information to Deputies."

Both Bennett Jr. and Wyatt were transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.

According to officials, Bennett Jr. is charged with "failure to appear (on the following charges): Carry Concealed Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Trafficking in Methamphetamine, and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Sell."

Buddy Wyatt is charged with Accessory After the Fact.
