The Merritt Brown Builders Club partnered with Bay District Schools, Woodmen Life, and the Panama City Kiwanis Club to dedicate a new flagpole and raise a new flag at the Jinks athletic field.

Organizers say the ceremony served as a way for the younger generations to honor and remember those lost during the September 11 attacks.

Barbara Johnson of WoodmenLife said, "The children that are in school right now weren't even born when this happened probably or don't remember it. So, it's very important to us to make sure this stays at the forefront, make sure our flag is flying high, make sure the colors are bright and give everything that we can to our community."

After the flag was fully raised, it was brought back down to half staff.
