DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The City of DeFuniak Springs has canceled LakeFest 2020, originally scheduled for May 15, 16 and 17 due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Here is a statement from the event chair, Mayor Bob Campbell:

"We regret having to make this decision. We simply don’t know when the outbreak will peak or the economic consequence of this federally-declared state of emergency on our sponsors. Therefore, the LakeFest 2020 organizing group feels it is best to cancel this year’s event and concentrate our efforts now on planning for an even greater family-friendly outdoor program in 2021.”

Announcements to any change in city services or events will be provided through media releases, on the City’s website and Facebook page. Residents can call DeFuniak Springs City Hall at (850) 892-8500 during normal business hours.
