PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - While most people are home enjoying a Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones, others are not as fortunate.
One Panama City Beach firefighter got a special visit from his wife and baby son while he worked 24 hours on Thanksgiving day. (WJHG/WECP)
But luckily for the firefighters at one Panama City Beach fire station, they say their co-workers are like a surrogate family.
The handful of firefighters on call Thursday say as of the afternoon, they haven't received a call yet but are ready and waiting to jump into action.
Until then, they'll be enjoying time together celebrating their own unique Thanksgiving meal.
Firefighter and paramedic, Andrew Paglicco, said, "luckily my son and my wife were able to come by and hang out with us for a little bit before they went to their later on event."
While another firefighter said, "this is our second family, we're here one third of our life every year so it's like another family to us."
The guys say they work 24 on and 48 off... in other words, they'll be on call for 24 hours and get to enjoy 48 hours to themselves before doing it all over again.
