At Wednesday morning's CPAR quarterly membership meeting, the organization presented a check for $10,400 to the Friends of Clifford Chester Sims Veterans Home. The Friends of Chester Sims is a nonprofit organization that handles the donations given to veterans at the home.
The donation will help the home obtain things like hearing aids, clothes, glasses, and other items for residents.
Virginia O'Hare, Activities Director at The Sims State Veterans Home, said, "Being in a nursing home, it can be very expensive so sometimes they don't have that extra money to do little things that they might want to do, even as simple as buying a can of soda or a snack."
The money was raised from CPAR's golf tournament in March. This year they say raised the most money ever.
