PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Locals gathered at the Temple B'Nai Israel on Frankford Avenue to celebrate the fifth day of Hanukkah.
There was music, latkes, also known as potato pancakes, and plenty of games of dreidel.
Rabbi Alana Wasserman said dreidel is more than just a game, it has a special meaning behind it.
"It is a spinning top with four sides. It has four Hebrew letters, one on each side: Nun, Gimel, Hei and Shin, which means 'a great miracle happened there'. In Israel, the dreidels don't have a Shin, they have a Pey, which means 'a great miracle happened here,'" Wasserman said.
She also said every night of Hanukkah is a celebration.
