PANAMA CITY, Fla (WJHG/WECP) - In this time of need, many locals are realizing they need to lean on each other to get through the losses associated with COVID-19.

At 424 Harrison Avenue in Downtown Panama City, a group of locals are working to make that happen.

They're collecting donations to hopefully help as many as 50 families get the products they need.

They're accepting items ranging from diapers and baby wipes to cooking and cleaning supplies.

You can drop items off with them from 8 a.m. until noon.

"Someone's gonna run out of diapers, someone's gonna need something that they absolutely just do not have, or don't have someone to lean on or call to be able to provide those things for them that's what we're trying to do here," said collection organizer Chris Spears.

The group will put together care packages and will distribute them in the next couple of weeks.

They tell us they're now receiving names of individuals and families.

To contact them to donate or get someone on the list, call (850) 238-2782.
